Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:3 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Introduction

We often speak about the “blessing of God” as if it is a distant lottery prize—something we hope to stumble upon if we are lucky or “good enough.” But the Word of God paints a different picture. The blessing is not just a destination; it is a divine empowerment that enables you to succeed where others fail. Today, we explore how to move from just wanting a blessing to actively receiving and walking in it.

I. Understanding the Nature of the Blessing

The world defines a blessing by what you have in your hand—money, property, or status. But God defines a blessing by who is in your heart.

  • It is Spiritual First: Every physical manifestation of God’s favor begins in the spirit. If you are in Christ, the Bible says you already have access to every spiritual blessing.
  • It is an Empowerment: In Genesis, when God blessed Adam and Eve, He gave them a command: “Be fruitful and multiply.” The blessing is the “fuel” that makes your hard work produce a harvest. It doesn’t replace your effort; it multiplies it.

II. Removing the Barriers to Receiving

Sometimes the rain is falling, but our “containers” are covered. What stops us from receiving?

  • Unbelief: We often limit God to our own bank accounts or our own education. Receiving requires a shift in perspective—moving from “How can I?” to “What can God do?”
  • Unforgiveness: Bitterness is a clog in the pipe of God’s favor. To receive the fullness of His grace, we must be willing to let go of the debts we hold against others.
  • Disobedience: Small instructions often lead to big miracles. In the miracle of the wine at Cana, Mary said, “Do whatever He tells you.” The blessing followed the act of obedience.

III. The Power of Alignment

To receive a radio signal, you must be on the right frequency. To receive God’s blessing, you must align your life with His principles.

  • Faithful Stewardship: God blesses those who manage the “little” well. If you are faithful with a small project or a small amount of resources today, you are proving to Heaven that you can handle the “much” tomorrow.
  • The Heart of a Giver: The blessing of God is not meant to stop with you; it is meant to flow through you. We are blessed to be a blessing. When your hands are open to give, they are also open to receive.

IV. Walking in the “Already”

The greatest shift in a believer’s life happens when they stop begging for what God has already promised.

  • Speak the Word: Start declaring the favor of God over your business, your family, and your health.
  • Rest in His Timing: Receiving isn’t always instant. Like a seed in the ground, the blessing is working even when you can’t see the green shoot breaking the soil. Trust that the One who promised is faithful to bring it to pass.

Conclusion

The blessing of God is not reserved for the perfect; it is available to the positioned. If you will align your heart with His Word, clear out the clutter of doubt, and stay faithful in the daily grind, you will find that the goodness and mercy of God aren’t just following you—they are overtaking you.
